What are the storage precautions for distant spinning reels

Long-range spinning reels are an important tool for fishing enthusiasts to pursue long-distance casting effects. The maintenance of their performance and the extension of their service life are closely related to the correct storage method. In order to ensure the best performance of the reel during use, the following are some professional storage and maintenance suggestions.

Cleaning and Drying
Before storing the reel, cleaning and drying are indispensable steps. First, the outside of the reel should be thoroughly cleaned with a soft brush and warm water to remove salt, dirt and other impurities. Especially after seawater fishing, salt residue will cause serious corrosion to the reel. For internal cleaning, if conditions permit, it is recommended to disassemble the detachable parts and use professional cleaners and soft cloth to clean them to ensure that there are no impurities and moisture residues inside. In terms of drying, the reel should be dried naturally in a cool and ventilated place, and be sure to avoid direct sunlight to prevent material aging. In addition, make sure the reel is completely dry before storage to prevent rust caused by moisture.

Avoid direct sunlight
Exposing the reel to sunlight for a long time may cause material aging, which in turn affects its performance and appearance. Therefore, when choosing a storage environment, priority should be given to a cool, dry place and avoid direct sunlight. The ideal storage temperature should be controlled between 0°C and 30°C to prevent the adverse effects of extreme temperatures on the material.

Moisture-proof measures
A humid environment is the main cause of rust and corrosion of the reel, so it is crucial to take effective moisture-proof measures. Desiccant (such as silica gel bags) can be placed in the storage area to absorb humid air. In addition, placing the reel in a sealed bag or moisture-proof box can also effectively reduce the contact with humid air, thereby protecting the integrity of the reel.

Separate storage
For fishing enthusiasts who have multiple reels, it is recommended to store the reels separately to avoid friction and damage to each other. Each reel should be placed in a separate cloth bag or box to prevent scratches and collisions. At the same time, avoid placing heavy objects on the reel during storage to avoid deformation or damage.

Storage location
Choosing a suitable storage location is an important factor in ensuring the safety of the reel. When storing the reel, keep it away from chemicals or corrosive substances to prevent damage to the reel material. Placing the reel on a stable shelf to avoid tilting or falling is also an effective measure to ensure its safety.

Regular inspections
Even during storage, it is necessary to regularly check the condition of the reel to ensure that there are no potential problems. The reel should be checked regularly for obvious rust, wear or other damage. In addition, it is recommended to perform a minor functional test at intervals to ensure that the reel's rotation and brake systems are functioning properly.

Avoid long periods of non-use
A reel that has not been used for a long time may cause rust or wear of internal parts due to lack of lubrication. Therefore, even in the non-fishing season, it is recommended to regularly take out the reel for simple lubrication and testing to ensure that it is in good condition. Before storage, always check whether the lubricant inside the reel is sufficient to avoid drying up.
